FASS Representatives Participate in International Summit on AI and Communication Education at Istanbul University
Associate Professor Dr. Ervin Kovačević, Dean of FASS, and Assistant Professor Dr. Emir Hambo, Program Coordinator of Visual Arts and Visual Communications Design (VACD), participated at the international summit titled “Exploring AI Curricula Through the Lens of Communication Students.” The event was hosted by Istanbul University and organized as part of the broader initiative, AI for Media Education.
The summit brought together academics, industry experts, and students to discuss how artificial intelligence is reshaping the fields of communication, journalism, media studies, and visual communication. Through insightful panel sessions, participants explored the evolving relationship between technology and education, as well as the competencies needed for future media professionals.

Dr. Kovačević participated in the opening panel titled "The Future of AI Curricula," where he shared his perspectives on integrating artificial intelligence into education in the fields of communication and social sciences. Representing the VACD program, Dr. Emir Hambo served as the moderator of the second panel, “The Impact of AI and Digitalization on Education.
The panel explored how AI tools - from generative models to data-driven content systems - are transforming pedagogical practices and student engagement in creative and communication fields. Dr. Hambo facilitated a dynamic discussion that shed light on both opportunities and ethical considerations, including student perceptions of AI, its role in visual communication, and the future of digital creativity.
