The BA in English Language and Literature offers courses which enable students to gain knowledge and practical experience in teaching English as a foreign language, translating, interpreting as well as understanding of literature and its connection with social, cultural, historical, political or economic contexts. By completing the BA in English Language and Literature, students acquire transferrable skills including advanced speaking and writing English language skills, critical thinking and communication skills which are deemed essential for jobs in education, administration, business, public relations, services, international relations or diplomacy.
After completing the BA in English Language and Literature Program, our graduates can pursue a career in various fields. They can be English language teachers in kindergartens, primary or high schools, or they can deliver English language courses to different age groups both online and in classrooms. Another opportunity is in the translation industry, where they can translate company documents, legal documentation, contracts. Students may also choose to focus on literary translations, subtitling, or to work as simultaneous or consecutive interpreters. Furthermore, graduates in the BA English Language and Literature program can utilize their advanced English language communication skills to work in the social media to increase companies’ media presence and boost the companies’ brand visibility online; or in administration, working as public relations, marketing or advertising officers.
They can also work in tourism as tour guides, event organizers or hosts. Their communication and creative writing skills developed during the English Language and Literature program can be applied in writing for print or online magazines, web editing, publishing houses, digital publishing, or in the areas of freelance writing, copywriting, editing or technical writing.
Exceptional graduates may also choose to pursue their career as academicians and conduct research on various issues related to literature, education, literacy, teaching methodology or educational psychology. Their background in linguistics and literature may be helpful in various administrative, planning and curriculum development areas, as well as in the assessment and monitoring of the learning and teaching processes.
