Future English Studies Students Explore Academic Life at IUS Through WORDY Event
On Saturday, April 18, 2026, the WORDY Event, organized by the English Language and Literature (ELIT) and English Language and Literature Teaching (ELT) study programs, was successfully held at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS).
Designed for prospective students, the event offered an engaging introduction to the academic environment of studying English Language and Literature at IUS. Participants had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into both the ELIT and ELT study programs, meet academic staff, interact with current students, and experience the vibrant atmosphere of university life.
The official program opened with a welcoming session led by Dr. Damir Kahrić, who greeted participants and introduced the academic staff. This was followed by a presentation of the ELIT curriculum by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vesna Suljić, ELIT Program Coordinator, who provided an overview of the program’s core and elective courses, as well as career opportunities available to graduates of both the ELIT and ELT study programs.
The ELT curriculum was then presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Emina Jelesković, who highlighted the structure of the program and clarified the key distinctions between the ELIT and ELT study programs. In addition, Instructor Maja Olovčić shared insights into student life at the university and engaged participants through an interactive activity designed to encourage participation and reflection.
The program continued with a series of student presentations that offered authentic and inspiring perspectives on academic and extracurricular life at IUS. Dino Ćosićkić spoke about his experiences during his BA and MA studies, reflecting on his academic development. Bakir Abaspahić and Lejla Vatrić presented their Erasmus exchange experiences, while Hadil About El-Ardat discussed student involvement in conferences and academic writing. Humeyra Küpeli introduced extracurricular opportunities through her presentation on the Music Club, and Ensara Ibrahimspahić shared everyday insights into student life, giving participants a closer look at the dynamic and welcoming IUS experience.
The event concluded with the awarding of certificates, refreshments, and an exclusive campus tour, during which participants visited key university facilities. Adding further value to the event, prospective students were informed that they will receive an additional 15% scholarship upon enrolling in the ELIT or ELT programs at the International University of Sarajevo.
The WORDY Scholarship 2026 Program successfully combined informative presentations, student interaction, and campus exploration, providing future IUS students with a meaningful and comprehensive introduction to their potential academic journey at IUS.
