IUS Student Exhibition: Casus
“Casus” is an IUS student exhibition that brings into dialogue the emotional depth of local kara sevdah within Bosnian and Herzegovinian tradition and the powerful pathos found in the works of William Shakespeare. Marking the 410th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, the exhibition explores how themes of love, longing, fate, and loss continue to resonate across cultures and historical periods - connecting global literary heritage with local sensibility.
Prepared by VACD and ELIT/ELT students of the International University of Sarajevo under the mentorship of their lecturers, the exhibition reflects a collaborative academic and artistic effort. Guided by IUS FASS professors and external experts - Dr. Damir Kahrić, Assistant Prof. Nejira Mulahmetović, MA, Associate Prof. Roman Sulejmanpašić, MFA, Ms. Samina Tanović, Associate Prof. Dr. Vesna Suljić, and Assistant Dino Šahović - the project offers a thoughtful exploration of shared emotional landscapes. Through visual expression, literary engagement, and performative elements, “Casus” creates a space where Bosnian-Herzegovinian tradition and Shakespearean drama encounter one another in a contemporary artistic setting.
The exhibition will open on March 3, 2026, at 19:30, at the Museum of Literature and Performing Arts, located at Sime Milutinovića Sarajlije 7, Sarajevo. Visitors are invited to experience an evening dedicated to reflection, artistic dialogue, and the enduring language of emotion that continues to shape both literature and cultural identity.
